Is the Course for me?

The course is ideal for you if you are looking for a career where advanced designing and construction skills are required. Civil engineering deals with the design, construction and maintenance of bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline. It has several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, hydraulic engineering and construction engineering.

A Civil Student Profile

Ramesh first came to the college as part of a school's group. He quickly developed his basic joinery skills and demonstrated a keen interest in the subject. His work on the civil diploma course has been exemplary, and during his first year he was awarded a medal of excellence by the college. His tutor is particularly proud of the theory work he has done and says that he is one of the most accomplished students he has had on the course.

Entry

What are the entry requirements?
	A pass in SSLC / Matriculation Examination for admission to 1st year Diploma Courses.
	The candidates should have completed 15 years of age as on 1st July in the academic year for 1st year admission.

Lateral Entry
HSC or equivalent and vocational stream candidates will be admitted directly to the 2nd year of Diploma Engineering with minimum pass in the prescribed subjects as per Directorate of Technical Education admission rules.

Syllabus

What will I learn?

Generally you learn Physics, Mathematics, Project management, Design and specific topics in Civil Engineering like basics of surveying and mapping, as well as geographic information systems, planning and execution of the designs, site development, hydraulic, environmental, structural, Cad drawing etc.

Where can I go next?

When you have successfully completed the 3 years course, you can choose to seek employment in industry or take your studies further and apply for the BE (Lateral Entry - Study from 2nd year onwards) in Engineering Colleges. You will get special preference to join in our engineering college. Now there is lot of employment opportunities in infrastructure sector also.

We maintains various laboratories such as

	Material testing lab
	Construction materials lab
	Surveying lab
	CAD lab
	Fluid mechanics and machines lab

Our laboratories are equipped with all the basic and the latest equipments for performing all experiments to meet the requirements of Civil Engineering Studies.

In our material testing lab we have electronic Universal testing machine 40T FIE make with PC Interface and real time graph.

Impact testing machines model IT 30 FIE make designed for conducting izod and charpy test.

FIE make compression testing machines CTM50. It is designed to test metals and other materials under compression, bandings, transverse and shear loads.

SARO make – Rock well Hardness tester. It is suitable for testing hardness of metals and alloys of all kinds hard or soft, whether flat, round or irregular shapes.

FIE make Torsion testing machines.

In survey lab we have the following equipments.

Orr’s make 20” accuracy verneir theodolite with optical plummet attachment.

Orr’s make 12” Dumpy level with company attachment.

Electronic Total Station RTs 6821 FOIF with laser plummet imported make having 30x magnification with 1” least counts 2” accuracy distance least court normal mode 1mm distance with single prism 2000m, distance accuracy +2mm +2ppm, Dual Axis comperator +3’ Alphanumeric keyboard (dual display) shortest focus distance 1.1m, 32 Bit CPU, internal memory 16000 points alone with all students.

GPS mode: GARMIN 72
